Jaaye (pronounced Jay) is an American pop and rock duo/band formed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on July 26, 2022. Co-founding members include Hunter Badamo and Benjamin Swihart. Until 2022, Badamo and Swihart worked together under the name Slurm. On July 26th, 2022, the two adopted the name Jaaye.
The group made their debut in Pittsburgh in 2023 before moving to Penn State University, where they now primarily perform. On October 31st, 2023, Badamo and Swihart joined by Joshua Morton, Adam Smith, and Lans Taylor had their debut performance at a private Duquesne University Halloween event. The following year, Jaaye made their public debut at The Forge Urban Winery with their first permanent lineup (Badamo, Swihart, Morton, Smith) on May 3rd, 2024. Jaaye has since performed at numerous locations across Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.
Jaaye independently writes, records, and produces their tracks and all music is credited equally to Badamo-Swihart. Badamo, a self-trained engineer, leads the mixing and mastering of all tracks while both members contribute to production. In 2023, Jaaye released their first album, Head to the Sun (2023). Following this, they released the Morning’s First Light EP (2025). In the latter half of 2025, the group released a series of singles alongside recorded versions of longtime favorite covers. Non-covers were later released on the collection, Singles I (2026).
